Summer 2011 Kids' Surf Camp

Give your kids a summer experience that will last a lifetime with our summer surf camps. Week-long day camp sessions meet daily in Cocoa Beach. Overview
Girard Middleton brings his years of experience as a full-time professional stand-up paddle surf instructor to his summer camps and infuses them with the full benefit of his paddle boarding expertise in a patient, supportive and fun teaching style.
What Our Camp Offers
Here are a few things that makes the SoBe Surf Kids Summer Camp unique:
- Friendly, knowledgable staff that have stand up paddled & prone surfed the local waters for years.
- Instructor-to-camper ratio is an outstanding 1:5, and students are divided based upon age and experience.
- Fun-filled camp has the uniqueness of being a surfing AND stand-up paddling combined camp.
- Approach to camp is to have a maximum amount of fun while learning a healthy and active lifestyle in a nature-oriented setting.
- We love kids & believe involvement in water sports can change lives.
- Camp location offers private access to the beach and Banana River for amazing camp experience.
Daily Schedule
Daily activities vary, but the basic structure of each day follows a simple schedule:

Students meet at SoBe Surf in Cocoa Beach. Instructors will cover daily skills to be worked upon by students. |
| 9:15 AM | Students head to water for stand up paddling and surfing. |
| 11:30 AM | Break for lunch. |
| 12:30 PM |
Students back on the beach for more skill building, exercise, and water time. |
| 2:15 PM | Afternoon free play. |
| 3:00 PM | Camp day ends and pick-up. |
Perks and Highlights for Parents and Kids
Here are some good things to keep in mind about our program:
- Instructor to student ratio is always at most 1:5 and students are divided based upon age and experience.
- Family or friends of students are always welcome to stay and observe daily activities.
- Large tents with plenty of shade, water, and healthy snacks (fruit, granola bars) are provided daily. We have a sheltered clubhouse in the event of inclement weather.
- Lodging is available for families wanting to stay the camp week. No supervision is provided after camp hours. Rates are available on our surf lodge page.
Friday Surf Competion and Graduation
Every Friday a friendly stand up paddle and surf competition is held between campers to showcase their skills to family members and friends at the end of the week. Fridays also always include a special graduation and awards ceremony. It's a lot of fun and we encourage all family to attend!
Required Equipment
As part of the camp program, we provide rash guards, stand up paddle boards and paddles, surfboards, and everything needed for your kid to have a safe and complete experience. However, all students are asked to bring the following basic items with them:
- Shoes (flip flops work great)
- Sunscreen
- Towel
- Bagged lunch and snacks (location is private and not in walking distance to restaurants so please ensure campers bring enough food for the day)
Camp Dates
Camp sessions will run from June 6-10 and June 20-24.
Cost
Cost for camp is $399 per week, Monday - Friday. The daily rate to attend for a single day is $99. Half day camp (9-12 or 1-4 PM) is $249 per week.
How to Sign Up
Call us at (321) 926-6571 or send us an e-mail to sign your kid up or get further information. Camp is open to ages 10 - 17. Campers must be able to swim. There is limited space and enrollment is first-come, first-serve until the camp fills.
Location
SoBe Surf's Cocoa Beach Center is located in South Cocoa Beach at 3590 South Atlantic Avenue. It's right on the Banana River Bay and right across the street from the beach.
